Mathilde Sonney, known by her stage name Matson, is a Swiss artist, singer-songwriter, and violinist, born in the Philippines and adopted by a family in the canton of Fribourg. Passionate about music from a young age, she trained in violin and joined several bands, including Elferya and Borderline, allowing her to develop her unique style blending folk, rock, bluegrass, and blues.

In 2018, her tours with Borderline brought her to international stages, from the B.B. King Club in Indianola to the legendary Beale Street in Memphis, a pivotal experience in her musical journey. Inspired by her travels, Matson incorporates sounds and influences from around the world into her music.

In 2024, she founded the Matson Association with her brothers Christian and Jérôme. Based in Semsales, this non-profit organization supports artistic projects and encourages cultural exchanges. Matson is also committed to community projects, sharing her passion with young people and music enthusiasts.

Modest but passionate, Matson lets her violin and her music speak for themselves, offering intense and authentic sonic experiences, always tinted with the colors of her encounters and travels.
